3 cops die in accident

Three cops including a woman constable were killed in a head-on collision of a police van and an oil-tanker near Dhahan village on the Jalandhar-Nawanshahr-Chandigarh highway here on Monday morning.

Three cops including a woman constable were killed in a head-on collision of a police van and an oil-tanker near Dhahan village on the Jalandhar-Nawanshahr-Chandigarh highway here on Monday morning. The police van was going to Chandigarh from Jalandhar on official duty. There were 16 police personnel in the van.

The deceased include Phumman Singh of Dhilwan village (Kapurthala) who was posted at Chowki Paragpur (Jalandhar) and Kuldip Singh of village Cheema who was posted as ASI in Amritsar district.

Both died on the spot. Woman constable,Raj Rani,of Kapurthala,posted at Chandigarh,was admitted to Guru Nanak Mission Hospital,Dhahan Kaleran,and was referred to DMC,Ludhiana,but she succumbed to injuries on the way to Ludhiana.
