20-year-old drowns near Parwanoo

A 20-YEAR-OLD city resident drowned in the Kaushalya river on Sunday.

PARWANOO: A 20-YEAR-OLD city resident drowned in the Kaushalya river on Sunday.

Praveen Nath,a resident of Sector 28,Chandigarh,was an employee in the printing department of The Tribune. He had gone to Datyar village with a group of friends. They parked their motorcycles at Datyar and walked down to the river which is around half a kilometre from the village.

The group was ready to take a dip in the water when Nath’s foot reportedly slipped from a stone that was covered with moss. His friends informed the police who reached the spot. The body was fished out from the water in an operation that lasted around half an hour. The body was taken to ESI Hospital,Parwanoo,and would be handed over to the family after post-mortem on Monday.

Praveen’s father Ganesh Nath is a mechanic with the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking. He was the eldest among two brothers and two sisters.
