Two prime accused in an alleged murder case against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Baba Ram Rahim Sabdil Singh and Jasbir Singh were granted bail by a local court on Thursday. A court of special CBI judge Rakesh Kumar Yadav said there were earlier orders by the HC that the accused should be granted bail if the prosecution fails to conclude its evidence in the case by September 3. Court said since the prosecution has failed to provide evidence,there is no reason to deny bail to the accused. The bail was granted on a surety of Rs 1 lakh each.
On July 10,2002,Dera functionaries allegedly shot dead their former colleague Ranjit Singh. He was suspected to have leaked an anonymous letter written to the PM by a sadhvi alleging rape by Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. As per the CBI chargesheet,Ranjit had been threatened by the accused. CBI had arrested Inder Sain,Avtar Singh,Kishan Lal Pradhan,Jasbir Singh and Sabdil Singh. Sabdil Singh and Jasbir Singh were lodged at the Ambala central jail.
