2 die,1 hurt in mishaps

Two persons — a cyclist and an autorickshaw driver died — in separate road accidents on city roads in the past 24 hours.

Two persons — a cyclist and an autorickshaw driver died — in separate road accidents on city roads in the past 24 hours. In the first case,which took place on Saturday evening,an unidentified cyclist was crushed under the wheels of a truck near Hallomajra Light Point.

The truck driver was reported to be plying on the slip road near. According to Police,the truck loaded with iron bars was coming from Sector 29 side.

It had taken the slip road on which the cyclist was already plying. The truck crushed the cyclist,who was killed on the spot.

The police recovered the identity card of the deceased which mentioned his name as Ram Swaroop Singh. Police were however,confirming this.

The truck driver Dharam Pal,hailing from Ambala,was arrested from the spot. The police have registered a case of causing death due to negligent and rash driving against the accused.

In a separate incident,an unidentified auto rickshaw driver was killed after he was hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Raipur Khurd road in the wee hours of Saturday. The injured driver was rushed to PGIMER where he was declared ‘brought dead’.

The police were trying to identify the deceased and the vehicle that had hit him. In an another case,Govinda of Ludhiana alleged that the driver of a car hit his grandmother Kala Bai in Sector 32 on Friday. She was admitted to GMCH-32 and a case has been registered with the Sector 34 police station.
