Yesvantpur railway station redevelopment work picks up pace, to be completed by July 2025

The station would be constructed as per green-building norms, with provision for rain water harvesting, sewage water treatment plants, installing LED lighting and other green initiatives. Sufficient provision would also be made to allow ample natural light and ventilation.

The works pertaining to redevelopment of Yesvantpur Railway Station have picked up pace with civil and construction work making good progress. The South Western Railways highlighted that, as part of Phase-1, construction work has commenced on the ‘East Side’, facing platform number one of the railway station.

Meanwhile The construction of Multi-Level Car Parking (Ground+5), and ramps for elevated road with arrival/departure plaza are in progress. The redevelopment of Yesvantpur railway station is to upgrade the existing infrastructure at par with the airports. The project will provide a better, comfortable and seamless experience to passenger

The idea of separate arrival and departure points for vehicles is in line with preventing traffic congestion at the railway station. The station will also have a large air concourse (14,800 sqm. in size) which will be on par with the waiting lounge of airports with provision for food courts, retail spaces, business centres etc.

The station would be constructed as per green-building norms, with provision for rain water harvesting, sewage water treatment plants, installing LED lighting and other green initiatives. Sufficient provision would also be made to allow ample natural light and ventilation.

As part of the redevelopment plan, the station will also have a concourse built over the tracks and platforms. This will connect the new departure building to improve connectivity for the rail commuters.

After completion of Phase-1 i.e., East side, the work will start on the West side, near the Yesvanthpur metro side. The entire work of redevelopment of Yesvantpur station is targeted to be completed by July 2025. M/s Girdhari Lal Constructions Pvt Ltd Delhi has bagged the contract for the redevelopment of this station at the cost of Rs. 380 crore.

It may be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of this station in June 2022.
