The Karnataka police on Saturday arrested three people for allegedly robbing a Tamil Nadu police sub-inspector (PSI) and his family on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway recently.

The incident occurred within Channapatna Rural Police Station limits in Bengaluru South district around 2 am on October 7, when the officer had stopped his vehicle to take rest at Lambani Tandya, near the Channapatna Bypass. According to the complaint, the assailants allegedly threatened the family with knives and made off with a 16-gram gold chain, Rs 10,000 cash, and two mobile phones.

The arrested are Syed Tanveer, 30, Fairoz Pasha, 28, and Tanveer Pasha, 32, all residents of Bengaluru South district. Authorities have recovered a two-wheeler and weapons from the accused.

Based on the complaint of the police officer, Shajin, stationed at Cherambadi station in Tamil Nadu, Channapatna Rural Police used a technology-based tracking system to identify and arrest the suspects.

The police have registered a robbery case under Section 309 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are further probing their potential involvement in other criminal cases.

In a similar incident, Sanjaynagar police arrested three men —Mohsin, Mohammad Irfan, and Mohammad Salman —for allegedly robbing retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Subbanna near Hebbal Veterinary Hospital during his morning walk on September 1. The masked assailants threatened him with a knife and stole gold ornaments worth around Rs 8 lakh.
