A 36-year-old security guard at an apartment complex in Bengaluru has been arrested for allegedly killing an eight-year-old boy, who used to fight with his daughters, the police said.
The arrested has been identified as Chandeswar Matur, a native of Bihar who lived with his wife and two daughters at Rayasandra, south-east of Bengaluru.
The police recovered the body of Ramananda, also a native of Bihar, from Rayasandra Lake, in a late-night search operation on Wednesday based on the information from Matur.
“Ramanand’s family, with the help of the local people, started searching for the boy since 7 pm. The residents suspected Matur’s role as he had fought with the neighbours previously. When we questioned Matur, he confessed to the crime and said that he had disposed of the body in Rayasandra Lake,” said an officer.
According to the police, Matur was enraged at Ramananda for repeatedly picking up fights with his daughters, despite many warnings, and so he took Ramananda to Rayasandra lake where he smothered him and disposed the body into the lake.
The police have registered a case of murder against Matur.
