The cows have been treated, and are presently out of danger, said officials.
A milk vendor, who owns the cows, told reporters Sunday the incident took place in the early hours. He said the cows were bleeding at their udders when he woke up to milk them.
Soon after the incident came to light, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest and Leader of Opposition R Ashok visited the spot. Ashok said they would observe a ‘black Sankranti’ if the government “did not initiate strict action against the jihadis” behind the incident.
