A total of 99.2 per cent of students in the Bengaluru region cleared the CBSE Class X examination, a marginal increase from last year’s 99.1 per cent. The Bengaluru region ranked fourth in South India, behind Trivandrum (99.7 per cent), Vijayawada (99.6 per cent), and Chennai (99.3 per cent). A total of 83,787 students had registered for the exam, out of which 83,647 appeared and 83,029 passed.
Shreyash Lodh, 16, from NPS Koramangala topped the region with 99 per cent. Lodh has a penchant for mathematics and science. While describing his love for mathematics, he said, “I love mathematics more than chocolates.”
Lodh has actively taken part in mathematics workshops since his childhood. He has bagged around 15 medals (most of them gold) over the years in Science and Maths Olympiads. His love for mathematics is understood to have come from his mother who is a mathematics teacher at a private school in Bengaluru.

“I used to have a fixed timetable and study according to it. I think my teachers have been instrumental in my success journey. I ensured I cleared all my doubts with my teachers in school, which made it easier for me while preparing,” said Lodh, who wants to pursue computer science.
Aryan Agarwal scored 96.8 per cent.
Lodh has also participated in several computer science and information technology-related certification courses offered by Infosys, and Harvard University, among others.
“I always ensure that I stay updated with the latest technology and science-related advancements,” said Lodh.
Aryan Agarwal, 15, a competitive-level swimmer and a student of Ekya Schools scored 96.8 per cent.

“I just keep myself abreast with the concepts being taught in school every day. It was hard to maintain this consistency, but it worked overtime with practice. I am a competitive-level swimmer… By swimming three to four days a week, I used to balance both academics and sports,” said Agarwal.
Interestingly, Agarwal also served as the president of the Service Learning Programme club, an in-house club of the school. His team raised roughly Rs 1 lakh by selling food, clothes, and other items to raise funds for cataract surgery for 100 underprivileged children. “The experience of being in community service has been enlightening. It has impacted my personality and made me realise that there is more to life than just studies, exams, and swimming,” said Agarwal.
Meanwhile, Dhanya Mittal, a student of Delhi Public School, Mysore scored 97 per cent. She aspires to take up science and become a cardiologist. “I didn’t have any timetable. I was just consistent with my preparations throughout. I did have some pre-exam jitters but I got rid of them by talking to friends and family members. I participated in a quiz competition related to cardiology and bagged second place, which is why I want to specialise in cardiology,” said Mittal who is also an avid reader and a basketball player.
