BBMP to launch PACE, a new app to report potholes in Bengaluru
In view of the growing pothole crisis, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced the launch of the new app.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is all set to launch a new app, ‘PACE’ (Pothole Assistance Citizen Engagement), a platform to report potholes on the city streets.
Bengaluru roads, known for their infamous potholes, have proved to be detrimental for the lives of motorists, especially during the monsoon. The city has also witnessed multiple pothole-related deaths which highlights the BBMP’s repeated failure to fix the pothole menace on Bengaluru roads.
In view of the growing pothole crisis, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced the launch of the new app. However, a formal launch date is yet to be fixed. The app enables and empowers the citizens to report potholes more efficiently and improve the overall road maintenance system.
According to BBMP officials, citizens can report about potholes by clicking a photo and submitting it on the app. The information is further sent to the contractor responsible for fixing the pothole through the engineer concerned. Once the pothole is fixed, the contractor will then upload a photo of the completed work following which a message will be sent to the complainant to confirm the resolution of the work.
The BBMP officials also said that to ensure timely redressal of complaints, the issue will be escalated to the higher authorities if the complaint remains unaddressed or missed. The system also helps take prompt action against the contractors if they fail to address a complaint on time.
“The PACE app also features an automated billing system, eliminating the need for contractors to submit work bills manually. All records are maintained within the app, ensuring a seamless and efficient process,” a BBMP official said.
Earlier, the BBMP had launched the ‘Fix My Street’ app for citizens to report civic and infrastructure-related issues. However, the app received a lukewarm response, facing several criticisms from citizens, which rendered it ineffective.
