During a ceremonial parade today,Air Cmde SC Chafekar took over the Command of 12 Wing,Air Force Station,from Air Vice Marshal Rajeev Sachdeva,who stands posted to HQ Integrated Defence Staff,New Delhi. On assuming the command of 12 Wing,Air Cmde Chafekar emphasised on the importance of air maintenance and quality improvement.
Chafekar was commissioned in Air Force on December 28,1982. During his meritorious service,spanning over 28 years,he has more than 7,000 hours on various types of aircraft which includes Otters,HT-2,HPT-32,Avro (HS-748),Kiran and AN-32.
He is an alumnus of Defence Service Staff College. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor with over 2,500 instructional hours. He has held three important portfolios at Air Force station,Chandigarh.
He was the flight commander,has commanded the 48 Sqn and now is the Air Officer Commanding which is a rare feat. He was Chief Operations Officer of Asias biggest Air Force Station,Agra.
Meanwhile,Gp Captain Suresh Singh has picked up the Rank of Air Cmde today. He is now Air Officer Commanding of 3 BRD,Air Force.
Suresh Singh,who is an Aeronautical Engineer (Electrical),was commissioned in the Air Force on August 9,1981. He has held several prestigious field and staff appointments which includes senior technical officer of a MIG 23 (BN) fighter squadron,instructional assignment at Air Force Technical College,staff duties at Western Air Command,New Delhi ,Chief of Quality Assurance at 4 BRD and Chief Engineering Officer at Air Force Station,Jodhpur.
