Upset at the authorities failure to add a womans name in her husbands ration card,a couple attempted suicide at mamlatdars office in Khambhaliya town in Jamnagar district on Wednesday.
The couple who consumed sleeping pills to express their ire at the delay by administration has been shifted to government hospital. On the other hand,Khambhaliya mamlatdar has lodged a complaint against the duo and one more person in this regard.
According to case details,Madhusudan Agrawat (26) and his wife Aarti Agrawat (22) had applied for a visit visa for Tanzaniya to attend a marriage ceremony. As Aartis name was not included in her husbands ration card,the couple had applied for the same on June 1 to the Khambhaliya mamlatdars office.
When despite repeated requests,no action was taken in their case,the couple attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills at the mamlatdars office on Wednesday. Following the incident,both were immediately rushed to the government hospital and are under treatment,said sources.
On other hand,N F Chaudhari,mamlatdar,Khambhaliya town,
has lodged a complaint against three persons including the couple in this regard. In his complaint,Chaudhari has alleged that the accused Madhusudan,his wife Aarti and one Jayesh Agrawat prevented him from performing his official work.
He said though he told the couple that Aartis father has been asked to get her name cancelled from his (fathers) ration card,the couple behaved in an unruly manner.
Following the complaint Khambhaliya town police has registered the complaint under section 186 (preventing official from performing official duty) and 114 (helping each other in committing crime) of Indian Penal Code.
The investigation has been initiated and no one is arrested yet, said police station officer,Khambhaliya.
