VUDA officials,contractor booked

A day after two buildings constructed by Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA) came crushing down,the police have registered an FIR against contractor and officials concerned for culpable homicide not amounting to murder under sections 304,308 and 114 of the IPC

A day after two buildings constructed by Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA) came crushing down,the police have registered an FIR against contractor and officials concerned for culpable homicide not amounting to murder under sections 304,308 and 114 of the IPC.

Now the police are awaiting a report from the Gujarat Engineering Research Institute (GERI),that collected samples of the construction material from the debris of the structures.

An investigating officer of the case said that the sections could be enhanced if investigations reveal a deliberate neglect on part of the authorities. Prima facie,police said,It appears to be a case of negligence towards checking the structural damage,especially since the construction material used was sub-standard.

We will book all agencies that were responsible for the maintenance of the society. Even the officers,who were in charge of the department at the time the society was constructed,will be in the dock if investigations substantiate the view that the material was low quality. The contractors,VUDA officers and engineers as well as other agencies that are responsible for this accident,will be investigated, said the officer.
