A 32-year-old man was seriously injured after sustaining a neck injury due to a kite string on Tuesday afternoon. Officials of Manjalpur police station said a probe had been initiated into the incident. The incident occurred at around 1 pm on Tuesday when Vipul Patel, a resident of Kalyannagar in Tarsali, was riding his two-wheeler on Makarpura GIDC road. Medical officers of SSG Hospital confirmed that Patel was wheeled into the emergency at around 1.30 pm on Tuesday and was admitted for treatment. Patel has a contused lacerated wound (CLW) on his neck and also sustained injuries on his voice box, the SSG Hospital said. Soon after the incident, videos of Patel collapsing on the road in Makarpura were widely shared on social media, sparking concerns over such incidents due to kite strings. The video shows locals assisting paramedics of the 108 ambulance service, who are attempting to shift an injured Patel onto the stretcher as he struggles to stand.
