Acting on a tip off,the city police arrested an unqualified person practising as a physician from Fazalnagar in Danilimda area of Ahmedabad on Sunday.
The accused,Mohammad Ali Ansari (45),is just a Class XII pass student from Gorakhpur who ran a private dispensary in the area.
The police seized medicines (some expired),injectables,surgical instruments and other medical goods worth Rs 40,000 from his clinic. During the raid,the police found a certificate of his having passed Higher Secondary Education from Gorakhpur.
Danilimda police said Ansari migrated from Gorakhpur three years ago where he worked as a compounder with a local doctor. He opened a dispensary at Danilimda without any degree in medicine and had no authorization to run it.
Ansari during his interrogation has claimed that he had knowledge of medicines and the treatment for routine diseases. The police have booked him for forgery. Further investigations are on.
