The Uttarakhand tragedy seems to have taken a toll on residents in Ahmedabad,so much so that strong lightning and thundershowers on Wednesday led to a cloudburst scare. Panic-stricken people rushed indoors and schools announced an early close-down while a few even called up parents asking them to pick their wards from school. Such was the scare that the Met department and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) control room team were busy throughout the day attending to panic calls from residents and explaining them there was no such alert. The FM radio channels were also roped in to assure that there was nothing to be afraid about as cloudbursts were generally witnessed on hilly terrains,and not in plains like Ahmedabad.

Modi method for media

Do not be surprised if many BJP leaders,especially dealing with media,sound like Chief Minister Narendra Modi very soon. Modi,who is known for his skills to effectively handle media for maximum publicity,will now train BJP media cell members on how to give sound bytes and quotes in the run-up to the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. On July 30,accompanied by national vice-president Smriti Irani and spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman,he will lecture at a day-long workshop in Gandhinagar on how to do debates on television channels. The CM will teach BJP workers on how to talk about “achievements of the state government” and “failures of UPA”.
