The Rajkot Crime Branch will question the couple arrested for supplying illicit liquor that led to the death of one person on September 29. The court has granted the police three days custody of the accused.
During preliminary interrogation,the couple,who also work as farm labourers,had claimed that they had used
an empty bottle of pesticide to prepare the liquor,which might have led to its contamination. The police plan to verify the claim during the interrogation.
According to the police,during the three days custody of the accused beginning Sunday,they will find out if the couple had prepared the liquor or got it from someone else.
They will also try to find out if it was supplied to other places. One Hari Marathi died and four others were affected after consuming countrymade liquor on September 29.
The police had registered a case of homicide not amounting to murder against Gondal resident Kanti Patel.
Investigations had also revealed that Patels wife Jaya was involved in the making and supply of liquor. The couple,who had escaped after the incident,was arrested by the Rajkot Local Crime Branch team on Saturday from Vinchiya village in Rajkot district.
The police had rounded up other family members of the couple in a bid to them. The couple was produced in a court by the police seeking seven days remand custody. But the court granted them three days custody of the accused.
