The incident happened when the Siromani Akali Dal president Prakash Singh Badal was delivering his speech. When Sikh visitors shouted a slogan,Jo Bole So Nihal…,there was a small blast in the electric meter board. The sparks continued for about five minutes,with anxious leaders even standing up to see if the situation was under control.

Youth slapped by cops at entrance

A Muslim youth was reportedly slapped by a police officer at the entrance of the convention centre just after he was frisked. A policeman has barely finished checking him when a large crowd of his relatives and neighbours walked in. The youth reportedly tried to move forward but the policeman stopped him,saying they were not done as yet. This led to a heated argument following which a policeman allegedly slapped him. The senior officers,however,allowed the boy and his family to enter the premises but asked them to leave soon.

Cattle-rearers run amok,break glasses

A group of around 50 to 70 bharwads and rabaris wanted to enter the venue but were asked to wait because of the crowding at the entrance. Angry,the cattle-rearers broke the glass of two doors while trying to push themselves into the hall.
