For the fourth consecutive year,the students from smaller centres have outshone students from bigger cities in the SSC exams,results for which were declared by the Gujarat Secondary Education Board (GSEB) on Thursday.
The top 10 list of state toppers includes a good number of students from Amreli,Anand,Bharuch,Junagadh and Ankleshwar.
Like previous years,the students from cities such as Ahmedabad,Surat,Vadodara and Rajkot,despite having presence in the merit list,have failed to grab the top spots.
This year,the topper in the state is Sagar Dhamecha,a student of Deepak High School in Amreli. Utkarsh Patel,a student of Dadabhai Naoroji High School in Anand,has bagged the third rank. While Rozmeen Patel from Bharuch and Adit Vacchani from Junagadh are sixth in the toppers list,Shreya Vora of Ankleshwar has secured the eighth rank.
According to Y M Vyas,the Officer on Special Duty in
Vadodara,GSHSEB,For the fourth consecutive year,the state topper is not from any of the large cities. Besides,the number of toppers from small towns has increased.
He said that in 2008,the state topper was from Banaskantha,while in 2007,a student from Anand had topped the state.
