Six killed,five others hurt in accident near Patadi

Six people were killed and five others injured when a tanker hit a Toofan MUV near Patadi on Friday morning.

Six people were killed and five others injured when a tanker hit a Toofan MUV near Patadi on Friday morning. The deceased and the injured are from a Patel family of Dhrangadhra taluka. They were returning home after attending a marriage ceremony in Surat.

The Patadi police have registered a case of rash driving and causing death by negligence against the tanker’s driver,who is absconding.

The deceased have been identified as Amrutlal Karamshi (36),Ansuya Shantilal (35),Parth Dilip (7),Hasuben Dilipbhai (26),Kanuben Bhagwanbhai (25) and Ramaben Amrutlal (11).

The injured have been identified as Sharmisthaben Jayeshbhai,Daxaben Laxmanbhai,Dhaval Amrutbhai,Mahesh Prabhu and Babu Kanabhai.

According to the Surendranagar police,the incident took place on the Viramgam-Malvan road,about two kilometres from Dhrangadhra,at 5.45 am,when the driver of one of the vehicles of the Patels was changing a flat tyre.

Sub-Inspector I N Malek,who is investigating the case,said: “After the tyre was replaced,the passengers sat inside the vehicle.

It was then that the tanker hit the car,killing five persons on the spot. The sixth person succumbed to injuries during treatment in hospital.”

The injured have been sent to the Community Health Centre in Patadi and are said to be out of danger. The police have recovered the tanker and investigations are on to nab its driver.
