Postmaster,agent named in cheating complaint

The postmaster of Lalbaugh Post Office and a postal small saving schemes agent from the city were named in a cheating complaint,on Friday.

According to the police,Narendra Thakkar,the agent,in connivance with the Postmaster,Hansa Jadhav,collected an amount of Rs 9 lakh from several people for various saving schemes.

Thakkar’s license expired in 2007,but he kept on collecting the money,said Navapura Inspector R B Sosya.

He added: “Post Master Hansa Jadhav,despite being allegedly aware of the status of the license,kept on accepting the money for depositing in various small saving schemes.”

Sosya added: “The complaint was filed by Assistant Superintendent of Posts Girish Patel,who lodged an FIR after many people,who had subscribed to the schemes,complained that their funds were missing from their accounts.”

The police said that over the last two years,Thakkar not only collected the money,but also earned commissions from several people by allegedly saying that he had a license as a small savings agent. The police are yet to arrest the two.
