According to the Sarkhej police,Shubh Dave (20) is a native of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh and he lived at Hiramani Hostel opposite the university.

Police said he had left for college on Thursday morning to give his mid-term exams, but he was not seen in the college. When he did not return to hostel till late on Thursday, the rector searched for him on the campus, but he was not found. He later alerted Shubh’s parents who came to Ahmedabad on this morning and lodged a complaint of missing.

“We suspect he was scared of appearing in the exams and opted to go somewhere else. At 12.30 pm (on Wednesday),he withdrew Rs 500 from his bank ATM on the S G Highway. We have asked the bank to give us the CCTV footage to check if he was with someone,” said Sarkhej police inspector BR Patel.

Police said he was last seen in the hostel on Thursday morning with his roomates. “Shubh’s professors and classmates said he was a simpleton and had a few friends. They also told us that he did not have any rivalry or issues with any student. He seemed to be depressed due to the examinations,” Patel added.
