(File photo) The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday admitted the bail plea of Oreva Group manager Dinesh Dave in relation to the Morbi bridge collapse case that killed 135 persons.
Taken up by the court of Justice Nirzar Desai, the matter will be heard on July 26.
Earlier, the court of Justice Samir Dave had recused itself from hearing the plea. Justice Dave had granted bail to five other accused in the case — two ticket clerks and three security personnel.
Meanwhile, Justice Desai also permitted advocate Utkarsh Dave to represent the victims of the bridge collapse tragedy to oppose the bail plea.
As per the chargesheet filed in the matter, two Oreva Group managers — Deepak Parekh and Dinesh Dave — despite having no technical knowledge about the suspension cable bridge, awarded the work for repair and renovation to Devprakash Solution. The chargesheet further mentions that the contract with the sub-contractor was prepared by the two accused “at the behest of accused MD Jaysukh Patel of Oreva Group”.
