Chief Minister Narendra Modi today visited injured rebel BJP Mahuva MLA Dr Kanu Kalsaria at the Bhavnagar Civil Hospital and advised him to take proper rest.

The MLA,who successfully led farmers’ agitation against the government supported proposed cement plant project by Nirma in Mahuva, was severely injured along with three others when their car ran into a tree near Vallbhipur in the early hours of Tuesday.

Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Bhavnagar for the state level Republic Day function, met Dr Kalsaria in the special room of ward number 7,where he is undergoing treatment, around 12 noon.

During his 10-minute stay,Modi spoke to Dr Kalsaria and his family members, and reportedly advised the MLA to take proper rest before resuming his agitations started in various parts of Saurashtra-Kutch and south Gujarat.

As the accident had occurred around 1.30 am,the CM also reportedly asked Dr Kalsaria to avoid travelling at night.

On Tuesday, state revenue minister Anandi Patel and Narottam Patel had visited Dr Kalsaria at the hospital.

Meanwhile, doctors said that Dr Kalsaria was likely to remain admitted for at least two days owing to his spinal cord injuries. Ruling out the possibility of surgery, they said the BJP leader would be kept under observation.
