Kidnapped Surat boy found dead in fields

The body of a 15-year-old boy who was kidnapped on Wednesday has been found in a sugarcane field on Sachin Talangpur main road.

The body of a 15-year-old boy who was kidnapped on Wednesday has been found in a sugarcane field on Sachin Talangpur main road. Police have arrested one of the kidnappers while two others are still at large.

As per police,Mayur Ramani (15),a resident of Sachin Slum Board,was abducted from his house by three youths living in the neighbourhood. The three took him to sugarcane fields on Sachin Talangpur road in an autorickshaw. They then used Mayurs cellphone to call his mother Nirmala,who was in Mumbai,and demanded Rs one lakh as ransom. The kidnappers also allowed Mayur to talk to his mother.

Nirmala again tried to call on the cellphone of his son thrice but the kidnappers did not pick up. She then came down to Surat and lodged a complaint of abduction with Sachin police. The kidnappers reportedly kept Mayur in the fields for the whole night while one of them came back to Sachin Slum Board area to make arrangements of food and water.

Sources said when he saw movements of police there,he informed it to the other two kidnappers who were with Mayur in the fields.

Scared of getting caught,they slit Mayurs throat,killing him.

The arrested kidnapper has been identified as Dinesh Thakur (18),who hails from Haryana.

Crime branch police inspector Z R Desai said Mayurs body bore several injury marks on throat and neck portion. Nirmala,who accompanied the police to the spot,identified the body of her son.

Sachin police inspector A S Shukla said,After killing Mayur,the three continuously changed places. The two others who are still at large hail from UP. The abductors were aware that Mayurs mother had gone to Mumbai to attend some function.
