Cold-shouldered by the top party leadership over his demand to remove Chief Minister Narendra Modi, former CM and rebel BJP leader Keshubhai Patel likely to come out in the open and announce his formal disassociation with the party along with other leaders at a public rally to be held in Ahmedabad in the first week of August. He will also formally launch the third front at the same venue against BJP and Congress.
Seven public meetings will be organised in July with an aim to assess public sentiments across the state and to aware the people about the new front under the leadership of senior people like Keshubhai Patel,MJP president Gordhan Zadaphia told The Indian Express.
The final decision on the leadership would be taken at the public rally in August,Zadaphia said.
However,he further said,MJP has already its base. If Keshubhai joins the party he will be offered to lead it. I wont mind (giving my party to him),because my state is more important than me and my party.
While date and venue for at least six such mass gatherings have been finalised, except one such rally which will be organised in north Gujarat. The first mass gathering Pariwartan Lokjagriti Abhiyan will be organised at Bhavnagar on July 10. This will be followed by meetings at Junagadh on July 15,Rajkot on July 19,Jamnagar on July 20 and Surat on July 24.
The rally will be organised by the MJP workers. Disgruntled workers from both Congress and BJP are expected to join the rally.
We will convince people that we are here to offer pro-people governance and grassroot development. We (MJP) are not putting our banner at the gatherings, even though we have used our strength and resources in organising it, Zadaphia said.
