19 Pak fishermen released from jails in Gujarat
Vadodara: Nineteen Pakistani fishermen have been released from jails in Gujarat and will be repatriated soon.
“After the decision of the Union government,they (Pakistani fishermen) were released from different jails in the state and brought to Porbandar from where they left for Wagha–Atari border on Friday,” Director General of Police (DGP) S S Khandwawala said on Sunday.
These fishermen were arrested by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) when they entered Indian waters at Jakhau in Kutch district bordering with Pakistan about two years ago.
The Gul-e-Sarovar boat in which they were travelling was also seized by the ICG. The release of the Pakistani fishermen assumes significance as Home Minister P Chidambaram is likely to visit Islamabad in the last week of June in connection with ministerial meeting of SAARC countries to be held there.

AIEEE results declared
VADODARA: The results of All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) was declared on Sunday. Rishi Dua bagged the first spot in Vadodara and second in the state with an All India Rank of 95. Dua is also the city topper in the IIT examination,the results of which were declared last week. Siddharth Shah stood second spot in the city and third in the city IIT list.

Three cholera cases reported in Vadodara
VADODARA: Three cases of cholera were confirmed in Vadodara on Sunday. VMC Health officials said the patients were suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting and medical reports on Sunday morning confirmed them positive with cholera. All have been admitted to the Infectious Disease (ID) Hospital.
