Sons of cops held for stealing laptops,motorcycle
VADODARA: The Navapura police on Friday evening arrested four youths — three of them sons of police officers serving in various police stations in the city — for allegedly stealing laptops,a few mobile phones and a motorcycle from a shop in the Lad Bhawan shopping complex in Vadodara.
The accused have been identified as Vijendra Takhatsinh Rajput,Balkrishna Gulabrao Patil,Deepak Raman Parmar and Parvat alias Parvatsinh Mansukh Garasia,all residents of Pratappura Police Lines.
According to the police,the youths are in the age-group of 18 to 24 years and they needed money to pay their debts. According to a complaint filed by a shopkeeper,Jagadish Shah,the youths stole two laptops from his shop and three mobile phones between April 10 and 11.
Inspector L D Sosa said: “Stolen goods worth Rs 2,31,000 were recovered from the possession of the youths. Two laptops (of Compaq and Dell brands),three mobile phones and one motorcycle were also recovered from them.”
The police said all the four accused were involved in gambling in the city.
The Navapura police later added that Vijendra was the son Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana’s driver.

Two ABB trainees killed in road mishap
Vadodara: Two persons,working as trainees in ABB factory on Makarpura road,died in a road mishap in Vadodara,police said on Saturday.
Both of them were returning home late last night after their duty hours. They were walking when both of them were hit by a speeding vehicle. The driver of the vehicle,who ran away after the mishap,has been arrested. Further investigation is on.
