Special train between Mumbai,Ahmedabad
Western Railway has decided to run a special train between Mumbai Central and Ahmedabad to clear the extra rush of passengers,an official release said on Sunday.
Train number 0989 Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad will leave Mumbai every Tuesday,Thursday and Sunday at 10.50 pm and reach Ahmedabad at 6 am the next day,from February 9 to March 30.
Train no 0990 will leave Ahmedabad every Wednesday,Friday and Monday at 9.40 pm and arrive at Mumbai Central at 6.15 am the next day from February 10 to March 31.
The train will have halts at Borivali,Surat and Vadodara in both directions. The train will have 2Tier AC,3Tier AC,Sleeper Class and General Second Class coaches. Booking of this train will open from Monday,the release said.
Yusuf Pathan lodges police complaint
Cricketer Yusuf Pathan filed a complaint with the police on Sunday against three youths from the neighbourhood for threatening his watchman when he did not allow them to play cricket near his house here.
Wasim Shaikh,Mahesh Macchi and Sohail Patel were allegedly playing cricket outside Yusufs house and were calling him names. When the watchman stopped them,they threatened him, said an officer from the J P Road police station.
Meanwhile,the parents of the youths filed a cross-complaint naming Yakub Sindhi,the guard,who allegedly bashed the three.
Pathan was unavailable for comments. The officer added that the youths were picked up in the evening for questioning,and later released.
Anti-polio vaccine: AMC achieves 70% immunisation target
By administering anti-polio vaccine to 6,48,700 children below five years of age in the city on Sunday,the municipal corporation achieved 69.55 per cent of the immunisation target on the first day.
A release issued by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) said the campaign would continue for the next three days as a door-to-door drive to cover children who have been left out.
AMCs health department staff set up 3,020 vaccination booths to cover 9,32,761 children over four days beginning February 7. The release said the administration had sent one million cellphone text messages to people seeking to bring them to immunisation booths.
The release added that nearly 12,000 people,including AMC health department staff,medical and paramedical staff,medical and nursing students,sanitary students and ITI trainees,took part in the drive. State Health Minister Jay Narayan Vyas launched the drive by administering anti-polio vaccine to kids on the first day.
Deputy municipal commissioner (health) I K Patel has appealed to the public to cooperate with health workers in the drive during the remaining days of immunisation drive to achieve the target,the release added.
