Truck hits car,one dead
One person died in a road accident near Charodi Gam at Sarkhej on Sunday when a truck rammed a car.
The deceased has been identified as Darshinay Soni (26),the Sarkhej police said,adding that the truck driver is absconding.
Soni died on the spot while three of his family members were rushed to the Sterling Hospital.
The police said the truck belonged Vada Gam in Sabarkantha. The police have lodged a case of accidental case and taken up further investigations.
Girl accuses fiancé of rape
A 22-year-old woman has accused her fiancé of raping her repeatedly for the last several months.
An FIR in this connection was lodged with the Gomtipur police on Sunday.
The police said the accused has now fled to Junagadh.
The girl was engaged to one Bhavesh Gohil (30) in March. She alleged that she was raped in August,and after that repeatedly until now.
The FIR said the couple started seeing each other in August. But in November,when the girls family met the boys family to fix the wedding date,the latter rejected the alliance.
When nothing worked out between them,the girls family lodged a police complaint.
Inspector V A Rahewar of Gomtipur police said that they are investigating the case and trying to trace the boy who is now absconding.
Two dengue cases reported in Dabhoi
VADODARA: Three positive cases of dengue have been detected at Karmal village in Dabhoi taluka. The patients,all middle-aged,have been admitted in private hospitals in the city.
A team of doctors from the district health department began surveillance and anti-larval operations in the village on Sunday.
A survey was also conducted in the area,they said. The cases were sporadic and we have checked the houses of the patients. But,we could not find any pitchers containing stagnant water or any other source indicating a plausible cause of dengue contraction there. The blood samples of the patients have been sent to the Sir Sayajirao General Hospital for reconfirmation, said Dr Rakesh Sharma,District Malaria Officer.
The condition of the patients is stable,he said.
Fake certificate lands man in jail
AHMEDABAD: A special CBI Court here has sentenced a man to one-year rigorous imprisonment for trying to secure a job with the Oriental Insurance Company by submitting a fake caste certificate. A fine of Rs 3,000 has also been slapped on Dinal Yadav Dharmik,failing which he will have to undergo an additional six months imprisonment. Dharmik has been convicted under provisions of IPC.
Dharmik had appeared for an interview for the post of Development Officer.
Special Public Prosecutor Gaurang Vyas said: In view of the Supreme Courts directions,the vigilance wing of Oriental Insurance verified the authenticity of the certificate and found it to be fake. Vigilance officer S M Telang lodged a complaint against Dharmik following which the CBI registered a criminal complaint against him.
Special CBI court Judge V B Barot found Dharmik guilty of cheating and convicted him.
