Two killed in firing in Rajkot,Rs 25 lakh booty looted
Rajkot: Two persons including an employee of a courier company and a bus driver were killed in a firing by unidentified persons who looted courier parcels from a state transport bus near Morbi town. The incident took place last night in a Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation bus that left from Bhuj to Talaja in Junagadh police said. The loot took place near Morbi town when four robbers stopped the bus and asked courier employees to hand over the parcels at gunpoint,containing cash,gold and silver worth over Rs 25 lakh.
When one of the employees denied to do so,one of the robbers opened fire in which a courier company employee — Amritsingh Rajput — and the bus driver,Balvantsinh Gohil,were seriously injured. The duo was rushed to Morbi civil hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The four accused fled in their car,police said adding that all the exit points of Rajkot and Junagadh were sealed to nab the robbers.

Surat textile units to protest insufficient gas supply
SURAT:i The Southern Gujarat Textile Processors Association (SGTPA) are up in arms against the Gujarat Gas Company limited (GGCL) for not providing sufficient amount of gas to the dyeing and printing units in Surat. There are over 400 textile processing houses in Surat and majority of these run on the gas supplied by GGCL. The textile processors alleged that the insufficient gas supply is affecting their work and they are facing huge losses. The owners have decided to take this issue to Centre. President of SGTPA Pramod Chaudhary said,“The processing units have signed an agreement with GGCL that it will supply us the required demand. But it has failed to do so. We have decided to take this issue seriously and make representations before central ministry.”

20-yr-old youth dies of swine flu
VADODARA: A 20-year-old youth from Dahej village in Vadodara district died of swine flu at SSG Hospital,sources said. The deceased,Pannalal Yadav,was admitted at SSG hospital on Friday evening. SSG Resident Medical Officer B Patel said he was very serious and was kept on ventilator.

Bharuch boy died of Chandipura virus: NIV report
VADODARA: A 12-year-old boy,who was suspected to have died Chandipura virus,was tested positive of the virus by the National Institute of Virology,Pune. A medical report was sent to the hospital a week after the patient died. The patient,Ajay Waghela from Jambusar,Bharuch district died on August 13 at SSG Hospital. The vector-borne virus is known to be more prevalent in the tribal areas and is spread by a pest called sand fly.
