Cyclone Phet weakens
One person died of lightning strike in Bhuj and over 150 others had to be evacuated in Jakhau,as Phet weakened into a depression in the Arabian Sea,some 220 km northwest of Naliya in Kutch district,on Sunday. Owing to the effect of the depression,light to moderate rainfall with thundershowers and wind was recorded in Kutch,Jamnagar and Jundagadh districts. There was rain in some parts of Ahmedabad too.
In Jamnagar,ferry service between Okha and Dwarka was stopped for the next 24 hours.
Kamaljeet Ray,Director,Met Department,Ahmedabad,said,The depression would cross Pakistan close to Karachi within a few hours,and weaken gradually into a low pressure area.

The Met Department has forecast fairly widespread rainfall over Saurashtra,Kutch and north Gujarat during the next 24 hours with strong winds up to 70 km/h along the coast.The sea will be rough and fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea.
