The fire was reported from plot number 27,belonging to one Boddha Patel,where at least 100 labourers were dismantling a ship. Alang Chief Fire officer P D Vyas said: “Two labourers were injured. They have been shifted to the civil hospital.

He added that efforts are on to douse the blaze.

“It’s a major fire,and it’s taking time to bring it under control it,” he said.

According to reports,gas cutting work was on when the fire started. The Fire Department has,however,said that the exact cause will be known only after the fire is extinguished. “Nothing can be said about the cause of fire. Thorough investigation will be done after the fire is doused,” Vyas added.

3 MICA students to participate in Paris finals of marketing contest

AHMEDABAD: THREE students from the Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad have been chosen to participate in the Paris finals of a marketing competition for an international beauty products company. A press release from the institute said around 80 teams from India participated in the L’Oreal Brandstorm 2010 marketing and advertising strategy contest. After emerging as the national winners,the team of Aaron D’Souza,Ramesh Krishnan T and Sukalyan Roy will travel to Paris in June to take part in the international finals. The grand prize is a trip worth 10,000 euro to the team’s city of choice anywhere in the world.
