A Gujarat police team arrested a SIMI activist from Chhapra in Bihar on Saturday evening. Bihar’s additional director general of police (headquarters) P K Thakur confirmed the arrest of Farkat Jamal alais Arshad Jamal,a Patna resident,and said the Gujarat police soon left Chhapra after arresting the man. Chhapra SP A K Satyarthi said the Gujarat police did not reveal much about the accused’s antecedents but said Jamal had been living in Bihar for some time and had come to Chhapra to meet one of his acquaintances.

Man held for gambling a day before his wedding
AHMEDABAD: Nine persons,including a man whose marriage was scheduled for Sunday,were arrested for gambling in the wee hours of Saturday at Ghuma Pleasure Club in Sarkhej area of Ahmedabad district. The police said it recovered betting money of Rs 47,000 from them.
