Industries propose skill development centres in Gujarat
AHMEDABAD: At least 50 companies have submitted their proposals to the state government to establish skill development centres (SDC) in Gujarat. The industries commissioner had floated the assistance scheme for the companies to set up their SDCs. The objective is to provide specialised skills to the people so that they land up with a job.
The government wants the industries to set up SDCs in the areas of marine engineering,mining,specialised pipe laying,logistics and services that can provide employable workforce to the industry. Yatindra Sharma,CII chairman as well as joint managing director of the Gujarat State Council,said: “Some of the CII member companies have also proposed to the government for setting up SDCs.”

Heat stroke kills 2 in Sabarkantha
Sabarkantha: Two persons died of heat stroke in the Idar taluka of Himmatnagar district on Friday as the mercury rose to to 44.6 degrees Celsius on Friday.
One Mukeshbhai Naik (40) had a heat stroke while working in his field at village Choteumdepura on Thursday.
In another incident,the body of an unidentified man was found near a temple on Thursday and police suspect he died of heat.

24 fruit vendors fined for using chemicals
SURAT: The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Thursday penalised 24 fruit businessmen for using carbides to ripen mangoes in their shops.
The officials have seized seven kilos of carbides from them.
Acting on specific information,the health officials of SMC conducted a check on 37 shops in the Mahatma Gandhi Fruit Market at Puna Kumbharia Road and found 24 shops using chemicals. The officials fined them and warned them not to repeat it in the future.
