This takes the total number of arrests in the case to 14.The Kutch East Police on Wednesday arrested eight men for allegedly lynching a man to death and grievously injuring another after the duo allegedly entered a factory premises in Gandhidham GIDC with the intention to rob it.
The accused, all workers at the same factory, caught hold of Kanji Gohil and Mukesh Koli and thrashed them, resulting in the death of the latter, said police.
The FIR in the case was filed at Gandhidham B Division Police station on Sunday based on the complaint by survivor Gohil.
Inspector SV Gojiya on Wednesday told The Indian Express that they have arrested eight men, adding their identification parade was pending. Meanwhile, complainant Gohil was discharged from a local hospital on Wednesday.
In the FIR, Gohil, 31, stated that he and Koli had entered Om Industries in Gandhidham GIDC with the intention to steal some goods.
Around five to eight men, sitting in a residential area for workers, called out to them following which they tried to flee the premises. However, they were caught and severely thrashed by the men.
As they started screaming, more people gathered at the spot and the police were informed. While Gohil suffered injuries to several parts of his body, Koli was declared dead.
The unknown perpetrators were booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 103(1) (murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), and 117(2) (causing grievous hurt), as well as under section 135 (breaking rules) of the Gujarat Police Act.
