Ajay Rajput,an autorickshaw driver and a resident of University Road,died after a brief treatment at the Rajkot Civil Hospital,where he was admitted after he fell unconscious near Mahapar Chowkdy.

The minimum temperature recorded was 24.2 degrees Celsius.

Amreli was the hottest at 44 degrees Celsius with the minimum touching 26.8 degrees. Humidity was recorded at 74 per cent and wind speed was 10.6 km per hour.

Bhuj city in Kutch district recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25.4 degrees Celsius.

Markets and roads across Saurashtra remained deserted throughout the day as people remained indoors till evening.

Meanwhile,the Met Department has said the current spell was due to a low-level anti-cyclonic flow. Assistant Meteorologist N G Yadav said: “When solar radiations fall on the earth’s surface due to the anti-cyclonic flow phenomenon,the earth emits long-wave radiations. This keeps the temperature up.”

He added that there has been a three to four degree rise from normal temperature this time. The day’s highest temperature was registered at 45 degree Celsius in Idar in Banaskantha district. The maximum temperature in Ahmedabad was recorded at 44.3 C,while Vadodara,Surat and Rajkot logged 44.2,42.6 and 43.1 degrees respectively.
