Congress dismisses CM’s ambulance remark

His observation was met with a caustic response from the Congress.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi was slammed by the Congress on Tuesday after he said that “basic medical emergency procedures” were not followed when Congress president Sonia Gandhi complained of uneasiness in Parliament on Monday night.

Modi, while wishing Sonia a speedy recovery, said he was “concerned that basic medical emergency procedures were not used”. “Would have been better if a wheelchair or stretcher was used in Parliament. Considering her health,Soniaji should have been taken to hospital in a well-equipped ambulance,” he tweeted.

His observation was met with a caustic response from the Congress. “I think in a civilised world, people should not do any politics on the health condition or treatment of other leaders,” Congress spokesperson Bhatka Charan Das said.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said all arrangements to deal with the situation were in place.Asked whether Modi was trying to politicise the issue,he said,“Modi must himself decide what he is trying to do.”
