The Election Commission has made a strong case for a CBI inquiry in the complaint they sent on April 5, 2019 regarding the search and seizure operations conducted in Delhi, Noida, Bhopal, Indore and Goa.

In the December 2018 Assembly elections, despite a neck-to-neck fight, Congress wrested power from Shivraj Singh Chouhan, winning 114 seats. However, exit polls indicate that the party won't be able to retain its ground.
In the 230-member Assembly, the Congress has 114 MLAs and enjoys the support of two BSP, one SP and four Independent legislators. The BJP has 109 members, including MLA Gumansingh Damor, who contested the Lok Sabha polls from Ratlam-Jhabua constituency.
Hitting out at the BJP for causing disruptions, the Chief Minister said, "They (BJP) have been trying this since day 1. I have proved the majority at least four times in the last months. They want to do it again, we have no problem."
This comes a day after most exit polls painted a grim picture for the Congress in the state. The BJP is expected to win a lion share of the 29 Lok Sabha seats, with the Congress predicted to win not more than five seats.
