Taking strong objection to Narendra Modis frequent Shehzada jibes at Rahul Gandhi, the Congress Saturday virtually issued a threat to the BJPs PM candidate Narendra Modi saying its workers were capable enough to stop use of such undignified language against its vice-president.
The party also indulged in a damage control exercise after Gandhis remarks about Pakistani agencies approaching Muslim youth in Muzaffarnagar came in for all-round flak saying the feelings and the spirit behind his statement need to be understood properly. Senior Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said the essence of Gandhis statement that communalism of all hues should be condemned and opposed. What kind of language and culture is this, he said without naming the BJPs prime ministerial candidate.
Defending Gandhi and hitting out at Modi,Dwivedi said some people are playing politics over serious and sensitive issues. He said the Congress has always condemned and opposed communalism and it doesnt matter whether it is Hindu communalism or Muslim communalism.
It was not just Dwivedi. Union Ministers Manish Tewari and Beni Prasad Verma too hit out at Modi and the BJP and the RSS.
