Bullet train gantry collapses on railway line in Ahmedabad; services of 51 trains hit
The Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway said 25 trains have been fully cancelled, 15 partially cancelled, five rescheduled and six trains diverted in the wake of the accident.

At least 51 trains running through Ahmedabad to various parts of the country have been impacted after a massive gantry, used to install concrete girders between pillars on the bullet train line, slipped from its place while being retracted, leading to its collapse Sunday night. No casualties have been reported.
According to officials of the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES), the incident took place at around 10.28 pm. Officials said, “A slab-launching crane collapsed between two pillars on the high-speed bullet train project on Vatva Road near D-Mart. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.”

A statement from the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) on Monday said, “On March 23, 2025, around 11 pm, one of the Segmental Launching gantry used for viaduct construction in Vatva (near Ahmedabad) was retracting after completing launching of concrete girder. It accidentally skid from its position. This has affected the adjoining railway line in the vicinity.”
The statement added, “Senior NHSRCL officials are already at the site… There has been no damage to the structure erected. Heavy machinery including two heavy-duty road cranes have reached the site for restoration works.”
Trains cancelled, diverted
The Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway confirmed that more than 51 trains had been affected due to the accident and advised passengers to check the scheduling of their trips to avoid inconvenience.
Twenty-five trains were fully cancelled, including the Karnavati Express, Gujarat Queen, Gujarat Express as well as some intercity trains. Trains cancelled partially included the Shatabdi Express, Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat, Sabarmati Express and the Shanti Express.
The Western Railway said five trains, including the Howrah Express, have been rescheduled. Six other trains were diverted, including the Okha-Gorakhpur Express.
