Board exams begin today

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) exam begins on Thursday with 8,72,616 students set to appear for the Class X papers,and over four lakh examinees for Class XII.

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) exam begins on Thursday with 8,72,616 students set to appear for the Class X papers,and over four lakh examinees for Class XII.

This year,School Secondary Certificate (SSC) students will have over 16 subjects where examinations will be based on the optical mark recognition (OMR) system or multiple-choice pattern.

“Last year,there were only four subjects based on the OMR pattern. This year,more subjects have been included for the benefit of the students,” said Y M Vyas,officer on special duty,SSC.

The Board has also reshuffled the sitting arrangements of the examinees. None of the students have been allotted seats in their own school. “We are giving special attention to schools in the city and the rural areas like Sayajigunj,Savli,Chhota Udepur,and Sankheda where instances of copying have been reported in the past. Flying squads will be allotted their zones only on Thursday morning,” said S P Chaudhary,in-charge,District Education Officer (DEO),Vadodara.
