The upcoming election in the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) will no longer be a smooth ride for the office-bearers and aspirants.
A clear split between factions of the BCA was evident on Saturday, when the BCA election committee held a meeting to decide on the venue as well as the election officers.
A faction of BCA members were against the idea of having the forthcoming elections at the regular venue of Alembics Sanskurti Hall. However, the committee has chosen Motibaug Palace as the venue.
Bindukumar Shah,a committee member, has been appointed the election officer.
However,Mohan Karlekar,a board member, said,Shah has violated the by-laws of the association on several occasions in the past and does not have any right to be there as an election officer. I will move the Charity commissioner to issue directions under Section 41 of the Public Trusts Act that will ensure that the BCA holds the elections as per the regulations.
