A house party went wrong for three women in Vadodara’s Harni area as police were called after they, in an inebriated state, engaged in an argument with members of a residential colony Wednesday morning. Four, including the three women, were arrested under the Prohibition Act by the Harni police.

The party, hosted by one of the women, aged 31, ended on a wrong note after the woman first got into an argument with her 38-year-old husband and then with members of the colony.

According to an FIR, the Police Control Room received a call around 6.30 am from the colony near Harni party plot complaining about “three inebriated women creating a ruckus in the colony”. “When the PCR van reached the spot at 6.45 am, the three visibly intoxicated women were engaged in an argument with a member of the society. The women were talking in slurred speech, smelling of alcohol and also had flushed eyes from intoxication. They were unable to balance themselves and couldn’t produce any permit for consuming liquor,” Assistant Head Constable Lalsinh Jogdia stated in the FIR.

The police booked the three women as well as the husband of one of the accused in four separate FIRs. The two other women are aged 32, the FIRs state.

The husband of the woman was “also intoxicated, speaking in slurred speech, smelling of alcohol and unable to balance himself”, the FIR filed by ACH Lalsinh stated. While the four accused were arrested and let out on bail as per the provisions, their blood samples have been sent for further analysis.

“The four accused were booked because they created a ruckus in the colony… It was not during a police raid. The host first got involved in a loud, heated argument with her husband when both of them were intoxicated. Later, when members of the colony objected to the behaviour, the three women began quarrelling with the member of the society who summoned the police,” said Harni Police Inspector CB Tandel. He said while the accused man is a trader by profession, the women, in their police statements, have claimed to be “students”.
