Seven people, including four college students, died on Monday in a collision between two cars in Junagadh, said police. Two of the four college students were on their way to appear for their exams, officials added.
The incident took place on Monday morning on the Junagadh-Veraval Highway, as per the details received from Maliya police station in Junagadh district.
Eyewitnesses immediately informed the police about the incident, and dialed 108 medical emergency services, said officials.
Sub-inspector S I Sumara said, “The college students had hired a driver, Vaju Rathod, and two college students — Nakul and Dharam — were to appear for their exams at Saurabh College at Gadu village. From there, they had planned to go to Manekwada for a holiday camp. Vaju was seated on the back seat while someone among the college students was driving the car and lost control over the steering due to overspeeding which resulted in a mishap. Vaju’s body was found on the backseat of the car. Veenubhai and his friend Rajubhai Kuntan, both into construction work, were on their way to Maharashtra. We have registered a case against the driver. We are trying to find out who was driving the car.”
