6,77,237 students appear for board exams

Around 6,77,237 students appeared for the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Education Board examinations on Tuesday.

Around 6,77,237 students appeared for the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Education Board (GSHSEB) examinations on Tuesday. In Ahmedabad,81,629 students appeared for the SSC exams and 42,960 appeared for HSC exams.

This year,the schools were divided into eight zones and the students were given centres according to the zones.

There were 47 centres for the SSC and 18 centres for general stream and 33 centres for the Science stream of HSC in Ahmedabad. This time,the students were also given a grand welcome at many centres. The volunteers applied ‘tilaks’ on the forehead of the students and gave them flowers as a token of good wish.

The SSC exams began with the Gujarati Literature paper today and HSC board with accounts and physics. The students said the papers were easy and the parents also showed respite when their children came out happy after writing the papers.

The Education Department officials said the vigilance squad conducted a close monitoring. No issues of copying or other misconduct came up in Ahmedabad. Children with special needs were given an extra half hour to finish the exams.
