11 blackbucks found dead in Gir

As many as 11 blackbucks were found dead at Hadmatiya village on the periphery of Visavadar Range in Gir West Division of Gir Wildlife Sanctuary on Tuesday.

Preliminary reports suggest that the animals had consumed contaminated water. But it is still under investigation if locals had intentionally contaminated the water with urea,a forest officer said. He added: “Two males,five females and four fawns were found dead. The incident occurred at Hadmatiya village,which is a revenue area located in the periphery of Visavadar range. The department has begun investigations.”
