The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has undertaken several key infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening connectivity across the country. These initiatives are expected to significantly enhance travel efficiency between cities and boost the economic development in the region.
Delhi-Jaipur section of Delhi-Vadodara Expressway: Travel time, cost
The Delhi-Vadodara Expressway, is expected to further ease traffic and reduce travel time between Delhi and Jaipur to just 3 hours — down from the current 3 hours and 45 minutes. This development will help decongest and ease NH-48 and NH-21, facilitating smoother and faster journeys. As part of this corridor, the 66.916-km four-lane Greenfield Bandikui Spur — built at a cost of Rs 2,016 crore, offers direct connectivity. It also addresses the previous gap in direct road links, ensuring better travel options for daily commuters and freight operators alike.
Earlier in February 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 246-km-long Delhi–Dausa–Lalsot section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. This operational stretch has already reduced travel time from Delhi to Jaipur to approximately 3.5 hours and has impact economic activity along the corridor.
Big boost to economy
The Delhi-Jaipur Expressway will have a major impact on the regional economy. Apart from these, the government is also working on a plan to built rural haats along the expressway. As a result, the local farmers, weavers, handicrafts-men will be able to sell their products easily.
Boost to travel and tourism industry
The Delhi-Jaipur section will also boost travel and tourism industry as well. Rajasthan has already been an attractive destination for tourists from the country and abroad. Now, with the development of this expressway, its attraction will increase even further. It will improve connectivity to several tourist places like Sariska Tiger Reserve, Keoladeo, Ranthambore National Park, etc.

“You can imagine how much time will be saved by this. The friends from this entire area who work in Delhi, or are engaged in business, or need to travel for any other work, can now easily reach their homes in the evening. Truck-tempo drivers who carry goods to and from Delhi will not have to spend their whole day on the road. Small farmers and cattle-rearers can now easily send their vegetables and milk to Delhi at a low cost. Now the risk of their goods getting perished on the way due to delay has also reduced,” PM Modi said.
