Vilas Bhaurao Muttemwar is a politician from Maharashtra who has served in various Lok Sabhas, from the 7th to the 15th, representing the Nagpur Lok Sabha constituency.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, he contested for Nagpur Lok Sabha constituency and was defeated by the BJP's candidate Nitin Gadkari by 2,84,848 votes.
He served as the Minister of State in the Department of Rural Areas and Employment, Ministry of Rural Development, and Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs under Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao.
In addition, he also served as Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Muttemwar was the Chairman of the Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs, and Public Distribution in the 15th Lok Sabha and a member of the General Purposes Committee, the India-Bangladesh Parliamentary Friendship Committee, and the House Committee.
