New Delhi, Feb 25 (ANI): Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Prem Nath informed that a local court has sent Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, Jawaharlal Nehru University students booked on sedition charges, to three-day police remand. The DCP said the Delhi Police will interrogate the students amid tight security. Khalid and Bhattacharya are among the five students, who along with JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar, had allegedly raised ‘anti-national’ slogans at an event organised on the university campus on February 9.

New Delhi, Feb 22 (ANI): Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Monday condemned speech of Jawaharlal Nehru University student Umar Khalid, accused of raising anti-national slogans, saying the students shouting 'Save JNU' slogans are the same people supporting Khalid's speech on Sunday night. An ABVP activist said the speech has again deteriorated the image of JNU, adding that some professors are continuously supporting such students. Another activist demanded that students and teachers indulged in 'anti-national' activities should be first punished by the university and then by the judiciary.

New Delhi, Feb 22 (ANI): Five students of Jawaharlal Nehru University, including Umar Khalid, who were being looked by the police for making ‘anti-national’ statements on the campus earlier, surfaced at the varsity on Sunday. The five students, Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya, Rama Naga, Ashutosh Kumar and Anant Prakash, had gone missing since February 12 after JNU Student Union president leader Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested on sedition charges. Khalid was seen addressing over 200 students outside the administration block on Sunday night. Police teams have been positioned outside the University and have been asked to wait for the students to surrender themselves.
